Glendale was originally formed as a town back in 1884 but was incorporated as a city in 1906. About eight miles away from DTLA, this suburban neighborhood is the third-largest city in all of Los Angeles.
The city is one of the safest communities in the US – in fact, the Wall Street Journal ranks Glendale among America’s top ten safest cities. This is one of the factors that make the neighborhood appealing as well as the fact that many schools here are highly regarded.
The Mediterranean climate of the city ensures year-round sunshine for denizens. Days are usually warm in winter and hot in summer, though evenings are cooler.
Glendale has a very diverse population consisting of 54% of immigrants out of the 200,831 residents living there. It also has an average population density of 6,556 people per square mile.
